Children Relief Service (CRS) is a refugee-led nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, supporting, and empowering vulnerable children, youth, and families in refugee and host communities in Malawi.
Through child protection, education, food security and sustainable livelihoods, girls’ empowerment, youth empowerment, and GBV prevention and response, CRS works with refugee and host communities to create opportunities, strengthen resilience, and promote the safety and dignity of vulnerable children, young people, women, and families.
Rooted in community leadership and lived experience, CRS believes every child deserves safety, every young person deserves opportunity, and every family deserves dignity and hope.

Lives Transformed Through CRS
Discover inspiring stories of children, youth, and families whose lives have been transformed through CRS programmes.
Save Jonamu participated in a CRS vocational training programme and gained practical skills that changed her future. Today, she serves as a vocational training mentor, helping other girls build confidence, develop skills, and pursue independent, sustainable livelihoods within their community.
Dorcas Elizabeth completed CRS vocational training in hairdressing and cosmetology, gaining practical skills that opened new opportunities for her. Today, she runs her own salon in Dzaleka Refugee Camp, using her skills to earn an income and support her livelihood with confidence and dignity.
What began as a helping hand became a journey toward independence. Through the CRS Food Security & Sustainable Livelihoods Programme, this mother gained the support she needed to grow nutritious food, start a small business, earn a stable income, and provide for her family with dignity. Today, she is building a healthier, more hopeful future, showing how the right opportunity can create lasting change.
Through CRS vocational skills training, young women are gaining the confidence and practical skills needed to create opportunities for themselves and their families. Many are now starting small businesses, earning incomes, and contributing to healthier, more stable households. Their journeys show how investing in women’s skills and empowerment can create lasting change and stronger communities.
